Growing energy solutions

As fossil fuel consumption rises, food prices continue to increase, food supplies challenged and burning forests cleared to make room for more bio fuel production the equation is clear for taking humanity into a global food crisis.  The solution: JATROPHA CURCAS, the miracle plant! An easy to plant, resistant to drought, environmental friendly tropical oilseed bearing tree that has one of the highest carbon absorption rates, does not compete with global food supply and is able to make use of land not suitable for arable agriculture.

Bio fuels which at one time were taunted as the solution for rising oil prices and the environmental solution against pollution are now quoted as “a crime against humanity”. With oil prices over $117 per barrel, climate change in political overdrive and the potential of millions in the path of starvation it’s time to wake up. Mankind must adapt to the energy needs without affecting the world’s climate and food supplies.

Not many people are familiar with this miracle plant but Jatropha Curcas grows in my back yard, Costa Rica! The climate here is ideal for the rapid growth of this tree which can be planted in land that would not generally be suitable for food crop and produces seeds with high inedible oil content. Seed production can take place in two years and can last for over 30 years with an ability to tolerate a wide range of climatic conditions while at the same time absorbing carbon, improving the soil and creating organic fertilizer.

I’ve decided to make difference on our planet and take on the oil giants. My strategy is to develop new energy crops into sustainable commercial fuels. I hope to provide technology and services for the breeding, development, planting and harvesting of commercial bio fuel crops that are not subject to the same pressures as food-grade crops. Come join me in a planting program for Jatropha Curcas which produces inedible oil feedstock for bio diesel.
